Hello St. John’s! Last week we introduced our panini-grilled Sweet Potato Fries, and wow, the response has been amazing! These little beauties are cut fresh by hand each morning, and then grilled on our gluten free panini grill. Sprinkled with our store-made lemon-chili salt and served with chili mayo… mmm, who could blame you for eating them up?
St. John’s Pride Week held its Pride Parade yesterday, going right past the restaurant. Lots of new faces popped in to have a look at the place, and to take away some tasty morsels! We completed our Rainbow flag-inspired week of hummus with Purple.
Pomegranate and fresh, ripe blueberries made a tangy-sweet treat for a hot summer day!
We’ve been celebrating Pride Week with hummus inspired by the Rainbow Flag, and today we reached the colour blue! Naturally, we searched out the plumpest blueberries and made a fabulous hummus named Blue.
We are celebrating St. John’s Pride Week, and are making hummus inspired by the Rainbow Flag all week long!
Yesterday’s hummus was Yellow, a blend of mild curry and orange juice. Ingredients from sunny climes to represent sunlight.
Today’s hummus was Green, a blend of fresh lime juice, cilantro and green apples. Unusual combination, amazing flavour!
Join us tomorrow for Blue…
In celebration of St. John’s Pride Week, we are happy to present a week of hummus inspired by the Rainbow Flag!
Today’s hummus was a soft, mildly sweet “Orange”, with orange juice and ginger. The orange of the Rainbow Flag represents healing, leading us to this vitamin C packed spread with the healing properties of ginger.
This is St. John’s Pride Week, and we are happy to present a week of hummus inspired by the Rainbow Flag. The first Rainbow Flag was designed in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, a San Francisco artist, who created the flag in response to a local activist’s call for the need of a community symbol. The flag is now recognized globally as a symbol of acceptance, perseverance, and LBGT*Q rights.
Today’s spread of the day was a hot and spicy “Red”, made with roasted red peppers and teeny tiny fiery Thai chilies!
Hi St. John’s! We have a very exciting announcement today… we have added quesadillas to our menu! We’re loading them up with Daiya shreds for our vegan friends, or with rennet-free cheese for our vegetarian friends, then adding bell peppers, red onion, tomato and mushrooms. Grilled and served with our store-made salsa, these tasty treats are also very filling! Plus, we make a gluten free version using brown rice tortillas!
I had a gluten free, vegan quesadilla for breakfast after prep shift this morning. I love getting to taste all the new foods, and this is possibly the best one yet!
Our eco-friendly packaging has finally arrived! Thanks to the good people at Eco-Products, we can now provide you with compostable take-out containers made of sugarcane!
Our first customer to receive a sugarcane clamshell:
We’re so happy to make the switch, and we hope you’ll like it too!
Hi St. John’s! Thanks for sticking with us while we got our space fully set up. We can now host you at our new eat-in tables and chairs, with lovely glass plates and new flatware!
Our new look:
Things have been busy at Happy Hummus Hut, and we even sold our first piece of art this week. We’re sad to say goodbye to Josh Brophy’s “Owlman”, but we know he’s gone to a good home!
